Jamio Openwork Business Case

What happens when an innovative start-up and a social cooperative meet with the desire to embrace change?

Digitization with Jamio openwork

A CHALLENGE WON

It was a good idea, an excellent one at that.
Bringing together an IT startup and a social cooperative . And like all excellent, stimulating, and innovative ideas, it faced many challenges.

Let's say right away that we won them all (let's be modest...): not because we were good (perhaps a little), or because we had the right intuitions (some certainly did), or because external, contextual conditions allowed us to, and this is also true. The real reason, the deeper one, at the heart of everything is that the desire and demand of both our entities: Cooperativa Lanza del Vasto and Mistral Solutions , wanted the same thing. To embrace change. For the cooperative, it meant taking the first step in digital innovation; for our IT friends, it meant encountering a completely new reality and "world." So we began: we formed a company together (Digital Innovative Social Care) , we submitted a project for a specific call for proposals from the Municipality of Genoa, we won it, and the adventure began.

It lasted more than a year: from paper-based management, Excel spreadsheets and attendance records, documents attached to emails, purchase requests lost in the maze of corporate bureaucracy (who doesn't?), and much more, we gradually moved to digitizing the cooperative's internal processes, trusting and enriching each other.

We struggled to understand each other at first, and then again, because we used different languages and skills, and perhaps we were initially a little wary of each other. But along the way, all of this gave way to the project's growth, which, let's remember, concerns not only work processes but also the possibility of creating innovative digital services for the cooperative's users .

That initial desire grew with the realization that we wanted to create something that would concretely help people work and feel better. Operators and beneficiaries. What exists now? The DISC platform of integrated digital services for managing work processes (personnel, reporting, documents, archiving, purchasing and maintenance automation, orders, etc.) and several local services for users managed directly by the platform: online bookings; scheduling for appointments such as visits, recurring therapies, and more; video conferencing; access to documents; 24-hour ticket assistance; memory games, entertainment, and cultural activities. All within a customizable configuration that can be adapted to the needs of individual organizations.

What lies ahead? Perhaps the greatest challenge: facing the open sea of the many social cooperatives, and others, to which we can offer our work and see if we can truly overcome this challenge.

So here we are: DISC-DIGITAL INNOVATIVE SOCIAL CARE

Lowcode nocode Openwork

Mecspe Bari: Openwork at the international manufacturing fair to discuss innovation technologies.

Mecspe Ester Latronico Openwork

Managing manufacturing processes with a no-code approach , this is the title of the speech, held by Ester Latronico, Presales Manager at Openwork.

Set within a joint narrative by several companies belonging to the Apulian IT Production District, the topic addressed focused on how to increase competitiveness and attractiveness through digitalization, innovating factory processes, supported by specific software technologies.

In particular, Openwork's presentation illustrated how a , no-code  BPM platform like Jamio enables medium and large manufacturing organizations to adopt a systemic approach to work, improving interconnection between various departments and with other players in the supply chain, suppliers, and customers, in order to boost productivity and make the company competitive on the market quickly .

Ester Latronico explained that among the various investments already made by manufacturing companies, there are technologies that support certain aspects of a factory's typical workflows, such as ERPs for production, CRMs for sales, or management systems like SAP for administration. These are all vertical technologies that excellently address business cases limited to one area of the organization. But one of the objectives of digitalization must also be to avoid functional silos that limit information sharing and the management of intra-area flows . More generally, digitalization and automation strategies in the manufacturing sector must not only focus on production but also on customers , processes and the valorization of people .

In fact, the usefulness of a no-code BPM technology is proven in the following cases:

  • In the supply chain where it's appropriate to extend the transactional capabilities of management systems related to order or invoice management benefit from this

  • To open the company to customers, suppliers, agents, and stakeholders who actively participate in processes. For example, for customer order collection, quote requests, audit management, returns and complaints management;

  • In the presence of multiple vertical systems for functional silos , which are then "stitched together" by operator interventions, as the systems do not communicate with each other. A typical case is the end-to-end management of a project;

  • Where a vertical is not suitable for our way of working and the configuration is not sufficient without custom development, for example, supplier audits, product design, product feasibility studies;

And finally, where key and supporting processes thrive thanks to the good practices of some and the use of individual productivity tools (Word/Excel/email/WhatsApp). Typical examples include managing an RDA, approving invoices, managing certifications, etc.

If the BPM platform is also no-code and delivered in the cloud, the competitive advantages increase because:

  1. business is getting closer to digitalisation issues and business lines have greater autonomy in their digital transformation thanks to the contribution of “Citizen Developers”;
  1. it is possible to start IT projects with a reduced number of IT resources and even with a reduced budget;
  1. it is possible to enable incremental approaches to digitalization starting from Prototyping ;

  2. it is possible to create solutions quickly and in an agile manner, reducing vendor lock-in ;

  3. you have better control and management of implementation and operational risks as well as cybersecurity, thanks to the supervision of the developed solutions and the security of a managed cloud service .

In short, Latronico concluded, a no-code platform like Jamio, used to manage manufacturing processes, can truly boost a company's competitiveness and get them there first! For example, a fluid engineering components company saved money by digitizing its certificate issuance process:

  • 50% time to issue simple certificates
  • 80% for issuing more complex certificates
