Smart working has always been seen by companies as an alternative solution to address unexpected events and emergencies, especially in the ICT world.
But it is in the time of the Coronavirus that smart working is taking on an increasingly important and crucial role for the future of companies. First and foremost, it ensures continuity, thus eliminating the risk of negative impacts on business . Above all, it reveals a potential strategic value to adopt in the future, offering benefits to both employers and employees.
Indeed, while on the one hand, digitalization allows for the dematerialization of documents, simplification of procedures, facilitation of information sharing, and acceleration of productivity , on the other, it offers employees the concrete possibility of being able to do the same things even in places other than their official workstation, meeting the needs of the workers themselves and improving their lifestyle, which in turn impacts results.
Il Sole24ore highlighted the data obtained from an ADP survey “Workforce View 2019” which showed that a good 43% of Italians have already expressed the need to improve their work-life balance smart working technologies (above all Cloud Computing and IoT ).
Will this sudden emergency lead Italian companies to invest in smarter and satisfy the requests of a large portion of their employees?
Several companies are exploring this possibility firsthand, and it is not excluded that there may be new developments on the subject in the pipeline.
