The use of new technologies is growing in Italy , especially among the more mature companies in the market, with a particular focus on the adoption of IoT devices , cloud services Artificial Intelligence- based solutions . However, there is a "but" in this digital transition that confirms the Italian trend of the past year: 80% of companies with at least 10 employees continue to have a very low level of ICT adoption.
This is what emerges from the Istat report “Businesses and ICT” , which specifically states that in 2021 only 60.3% of Italian SMEs managed to reach at least a basic level of digital intensity , a sign that there is still a long way to go to reach “maturity”.
Confirming this trend are data from the " Desi Index ," a methodology introduced by the European Commission that since 2015 has continuously monitored the digital evolution of various member states and the impact of their national policies. In this regard, Italian SMEs rank tenth in the rankings for basic digitalization.
Therefore, Italian-based companies continue to be less digitalized than other European countries, but the growing demand for innovative infrastructure and services gives us hope for the future, as this model can be replicated by others, encouraging more and more companies to become aware of the opportunities offered by digital technology .
A good example is Nordcom , a company working in the digital transformation in transportation and healthcare. Operating in a complex and constantly evolving market, the company needed to manage, optimize, and monitor various process phases. Thanks to no-code , Nordcom was able to quickly develop customized prototypes of its business workflows, making them immediately available to the entire organization, with tangible benefits in terms of production times, costs, and operational efficiency.
