These are some of the professions that can best help a company innovate. For many companies, however, the real key lies in the work of the INNOVATION MANAGER, a figure capable of making key innovation by synthesising IT needs and requests from various business units, which may or may not strictly involve technology. This professional is knowledgeable about technology but also possesses the soft skills necessary to coordinate the need for innovation expressed by all departments of the company.
This is one of the main themes discussed by the protagonists of the Professions 2020, promoted by 'Più-Professioni Intellettuali Unite', which aims to enhance the contribution of the intellectual professions to the development of the economy and to create the conditions for a balanced collaboration between professionals, businesses, institutions and civil society.
During the workshop, it emerged that Italian companies generally adopt three attitudes toward digitalization . Alongside those that prefer to wait and do nothing, there are those that attempt to innovate by establishing business units entirely dedicated to the purpose and separate from the IT departments; finally, there are companies that launch pilot projects to experiment with new processes and approaches, both technological and otherwise. In short, consulting with an innovation manager could be the impetus to convince the most hesitant companies to innovate, perhaps by adapting the most suitable technologies to their needs for innovating business processes and workflows, which are crucial for market competitiveness .
