AI, processes, and recruitment: the SMART project presented at the University of Bari, with contributions from Openwork

On October 5th, the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bari Aldo Moro will host a meeting dedicated to AI, security, and smart environments. The SMART project, which also involves Openwork, will be presented.

The event “People, Intelligence, Security and Smart Environments” took place today, October 5, 2026, in the Council Room of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bari Aldo Moro , dedicated to the presentation of research projects developed through collaboration between universities and companies.

Among the initiatives presented, SMART – System for Matching And Ranking Talents , a project that aims to develop an HR Intelligence platform to support personnel selection through the integration of artificial intelligence and Business Process Management , with the aim of exploring a new recruitment model in which technology, processes and people can work in a coordinated way .

 

Stefano Lisi of Openwork Srl , involved in the project, also participated in the meeting , offering an in-depth discussion on how the recruitment process is changing with the introduction of artificial intelligence . His presentation analyzed the relationship between process, human activities, and AI services , focusing in particular on the role of orchestration and the importance of maintaining clear responsibilities, controls, and human intervention throughout the various stages of the selection process.

The SMART project will now continue with the analysis, design, development, and testing activities planned until 2027, with the aim of contributing to the development of new HR Intelligence in which artificial intelligence, processes, and human skills can be integrated into recruitment.
