Jamio openwork business case

What happens when an innovative start-up and a social cooperative come together with a desire to embrace change?

Digitization with Jamio openwork

A CHALLENGE MET

It was a good, even a very good idea.
Bringing together an IT start-up and a social cooperative. And like all good, inspiring and innovative ideas, it had many challenges ahead of it.

Let's say right off the bat that we won them all (let's be modest..): not because we were good( a little maybe), or because we had right insights (some certainly did), or because the external, contextual conditions allowed us to do so, and that's true too. The real reason, the deeper reason, at the heart of it all is that the desire and demand of both of our entities-Cooperative Lanza del Vasto and Mistral Solutions-wanted the same. To embrace change. For the cooperative to take the first step in digital innovation, for our IT friends to encounter a whole new reality and "world." So we started: we formed a company together (Digital innovative Social Care), submitted a project for a specific call for proposals from the City of Genova, won it, and the adventure began.

That lasted a year and more: from paper-based management, excel and attendance record sheets, documents attached to emails, purchase requests lost in the meanders of corporate bureaucracy (who doesn't have that?) and so much more we gradually moved on to digitizing the cooperative's internal processes while trusting and enriching each other.

We struggled to understand each other in the beginning and then again, because we were using different languages and skills, and perhaps at the beginning we had a bit of mistrust for each other; but as we went along, all this gave way to the growth of the project, which, let's remember, is not only about work processes but also about the possibility of creating innovative digitized services for the cooperative's users.

That initial wish grew with the realization that we wanted to make something that would concretely help people work and feel better. Workers and beneficiaries. Now what exists? The DISC platform of integrated digital services to manage work processes (personnel, reporting, documents, archiving, purchasing and maintenance automation, work orders, etc.) and some proximity services for users managed directly from the platform: online reservations; calendar for appointments such as visits, recurring therapies, less; videoconferencing; access to documents; assistance through 24 h ticket; memory or leisure and culture games. All within a configuration that can be customized and adapted to the needs of individual realities.

What lies ahead of us? Perhaps the biggest challenge: to face the open sea of the many social cooperation realities, but not only, to which we can propose our work and see if we will really win this challenge as well.

So here we are: DISC-DIGITAL INNOVATIVE SOCIAL CARE

Mecspe Bari: Openwork at international manufacturing fair to talk about innovation technologies

Mecspe Ester Latronico Openwork

Managing manufacturing processes with a no- code approach, this was the title of the speech, given by Ester Latronico Presales Manager of Openwork.

Placed within a joint narrative made by several companies belonging to the Apulia Information Technology Manufacturing District, the topic discussed focused on how to increase competitiveness and attractiveness through digitization, innovating factory processes, supported by specific software technologies.

In particular, Openwork's talk explained how a cloud and no-code BPMplatform, such as Jamio, empowers medium and large manufacturing organizations to take a systemic approach to work, improving theinterconnection between departments and with other actors in the chain, suppliers and customers, in order to boost productivity and make the enterprise competitive in the market quickly.

Certainly among the various investments already made by manufacturing companies, Ester Latronico recounted, are technologies that intervene to support certain pieces of the typical flows of a factory, ERPs for production, rather than a CRM for sales or a management system such as SAP for administration. These are all vertical technologies that excellently solve business cases limited to one area of the organization. But one of the goals of digitization must also be to avoid functional silos that limit information sharing and management of intra-area flows. More generally, digitization and automation strategies in manufacturing must not only focus on production but also, on customers, processes and people empowerment.

In fact, the usefulness of a no-code BPM technology is proven in the following cases:

  • In the supply chain where it is appropriate to extend the transactional functionality of management systems (ERP) with horizontal functionality (processes). ERP is too rigid and expensive, and there is little point in extending its use to the entire corporate population. It benefits, for example, authorization processes related to order or invoice management ;

  • To open the company to customers, suppliers, agents, stakeholders actively participating in the processes. For example, for customer order collection, quote request, audit management, returns and complaints management flows;

  • In the presence of several vertical systems for functional silos that are then "stitched together" by operator interventions, as the systems don't talk to each other. Typical is the case of end-to-end management of an order ;

  • Where a vertical doesn't fit the way we work and configuration isn't sufficient without custom development, for example, supplier audits, product design, product feasibility studies ;

And finally, where key and supporting processes live on the best practices of some and the use of individual productivity tools (word / excel / email / whatsapp ). Typical examples are managing an RDA, approving an invoice, managing certifications, etc.

If the BPM platform is also no-code and delivered in the cloud, it increases the advantages in competitiveness as:

  1. business approaches digitization issues and lines of business have more autonomy in their digital transformation thanks to the contribution of "Citizen Developers."
  1. you can start IT projects with a reduced number of IT resources and also with a reduced budget;
  1. it is possible to enable incremental approaches to digitization starting with Prototyping;

  2. solutions can be implemented quickly and in an agile mode by reducing vendor lock-in;

  3. there is better control and management of implementation and operational risks as well as cybersecurity, thanks to the supervision of the developed solutions and the security of a manned cloud service.

In summary, concluded Latronico, a no-code platform such as Jamio, used to manage Manufacturing processes, can really give an edge to increase a company's competitiveness and make it come "first"!!! For example, a company in fluid engineering components by digitizing the process of issuing certificates saved money:

  • 50% time for issuing simple certificates
  • 80% for the issuance of more complex certificates
