The countdown for the super andhyper-amortization of the 'Industry 4.0' package has begun.
Indeed, in the absence of definite news about their extensions, companies that plan to benefit from government subsidies to launch digitization plans must conclude within a little more than a month the operations necessary to secure these tools. They will therefore have to make sure that the delivery of capital goods takes place by December 31, 2018, with the possibility of an extension to June 30, 2019, provided that by the end of the year the order has been accepted by the supplier and a down payment of 20 percent has been made.
For 2019, the possibility of enjoying some facilities for innovation projects has not completely disappeared. At the moment, different kinds of incentives are on the horizon for small businesses, which will probably be able to benefit from rates proportional to the planned investment for the overdepreciation. The currently envisaged surcharge should remain in place, however, only for investments of less than 2.5 million euros.
There is also not much positive news on the personnel training tax credit, introduced in the 2018 Budget Law. The facility provides a tax credit of 40 percent of expenses related to employees engaged in eligible training activities and applicable to expenses incurred in tax year 2018. In the absence of an express extension, these expenses, if planned for activities to be carried out in 2019, will no longer enjoy relief.
